Janet has waved goodbye to Austin who is off to stay with her son and his wife, she knows he will be well cared for but she still feels tearful. Janet loves Austin with a passion, she often thinks that  if she had to choose between him and John it would put her in a  difficult position, she is not entirely sure which one she would pick.  Austin and Janet have been together for several years, when they met it was love at first sight. She knew as soon as she saw him, he would go home with her and they would enjoy many happy times together. As she turns to look at the home they are about to sell, she feels bereft, she knows she is ready to leave. She is missing her family and friends and now that Austin has gone, things won’t be the same.
